I am interested in the energy level and consumption of the primate brain. There are still very basic questions left about the energy consumption and energy distribution in absence of stimulation which are only poorly understood. To investigate these more closely, we want to monitor the oxygen consumption in the monkey brain under different types of stimulation. CMRO2 in the whole brain can be estimated from CBF and BOLD measurements with magnetic resonance. Thus, we established arterial spin labeling in the anaethetized monkey at 7 Tesla MR, with respect to high signal to noise ratio and good spatial resolution.
